Randell Major was born and raised in New Mexico. His great grandfather Nelson A. Field came to New Mexico in 1887 and became a rancher. Then, in 1918, became State Land Commissioner. His grandfather, Malcolm S. Major, came to Magdalena in 1910 where he improved a herd of cattle until he was able to buy his own ranch.

Randell graduated from New Mexico Military Institute. While in attendance he was on the Mounted Color Guard and lettered in Rodeo. He still loves to rope, especially with his kids! He attended NMSU before going to work. He served two terms on the Magdalena Board of Education. Randell currently serves as SW Regional Vice President for New Mexico Cattle Growers Association and is a member of the NM Federal Lands Council. He is also a member of the Datil Cowboy Christian Church. He has four children, and with his wife Lynn, own and operate 25 sections of ranch land scattered throughout Catron, Cibola, and Socorro County.

Randell's parents, Buddy and Helen Major, owned eleven ranches in New Mexico and one in Colorado. While growing up on these ranches with his five other siblings, Randell learned how to work, manage, and finance ranches. He sold his first ranch at age 25 and has been involved in and has brokered many real estate transactions since then.

Randell acquired his New Mexico Real Estate license in 2004 because of his interest and knowledge about properties in New Mexico. When buying or selling land in New Mexico, Randell will be an asset because of his combination of knowledge in real estate and his background in ranching.
